Maypul appears as a playable card in this game. While Maypul is the dedicated protector of the Aetherian Forest in the original game, in Lovers, Maypul is the spitting image of Loxodont, having an incredibly high opinion of herself, using deceitful means to get what she wants, and asking the player to pledge their everlasting servitude to her this all comes as little surprise, as this version of Maypul has Loxodont as her mentor, who gives her advice daily. However, sadly Maypul and the other heroes would soon be forgotten to time, with them all seemingly disappearing. The group emerges victorious, with their rivalries a thing of the past, instead considering each other allies against any future threats to Aether. Believing this to be the source of the purple shadows, the group puts aside their differences and battle the creatures. The platform also seems to double as a gateway, inside of which the group witnesses a vast abyss that plunges deep below the surface. Before the group can begin fighting over past issues, the ground shakes as the sea pulses purple and a vast stone platform rises from the depths of the sea. The two arrive at a vast crater, where they encounter Forsburn's brother, Zetterburn, as the group is soon joined by Kragg, who reunites Maypul with Lily, as well as Orcane and Wrastor. The two conclude the source of the shadows lies to the West, and the two set off together. Forsburn's taken aback and explains his own encounter with the purple shadows, as well as the disappearance of his brother. The two battle, but their fight is cut short once Maypul demands to know what Forsburn's role with the purple shadows is. Believing Maypul to be one of the attackers on his home, he attacks, while Maypul herself, assumes Forsburn to be related to the smoke in the forest due to his own smokey sorcery. Maypul watches from a distance, until Forsburn appears and spots her. Until one day, she comes across the Fire Guard attacking the Smoke Clan's hideout. Maypul follows the shadows for months, growing weaker every day she's away from the forest. Though Mayreed worries for her and begs Maypul to stay, with the danger they feel beneath their feet, the two realize all of Aether could be in danger. Maypul leaves her plant companion, Lily, behind in the forest, as well as a letter with her sister Mayreed for any other forest dweller that will read it, a letter detailing her discoveries regarding the shadows. However, the source of these shadows seems to lie beyond the forest and Rock Wall.

Soon enough, she discovers mysterious purple shadows that corrupt and twist whatever plants they come across. One day, Maypul feels a disturbance in the forest, something underground corrupting it. Eventually, she would appoint herself Guardian of the forest. Maypul lived high in the treeptops of the Aetherian Forest, away from the dangers present on the forest floor. She uses her agility to trap any unknown intruders before they even realize she is there." However, she commands fearful respect throughout the forest for her unhesitating vigilantism. She parlays with the surface dwellers, much to the dismay of her treetop clan. And so, Maypul patrols the forest seeking out threats to her home. Only she listens to the whispers of distress amongst the trees. Yet Maypul senses something rotten in the world of Aether. Her fellow tree-dwellers live in insular strongholds in the forest canopy - the quarrels of Aether quite literally beneath them. "Maypul is the self-appointed Guardian of the Aetherian Forest.
